We’ve actually gone into public parking lots a little further from the building to show you some of the military vehicles. The National Guard is based on the people.

We can see in the front cabins of these trucks. This is what state officials have said would identify the National Guard as other types of military or law enforcement personnel.

We actually just saw someone delivering pizza trucks. The area just in front of Whipple is likely quiet at the moment as some people continue to show up in sub-zero temperatures.

Now, it was at Whipple that Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino offered a press conference, one that was postponed, because Alex Pretty was already scheduled there before the shooting.

This is the 37-year-old who was shot and killed by a federal agent this morning, now Bovino. This was followed by Secretary Christie Noem’s echo, without any evidence,

that she was trying to harm law enforcement. This is the man who has a permit to carry this weapon illegally. According to sources.

Now, bystander video shows federal agents approaching him and pepper-spraying him, with a noggin in his hand that we can see.

Bovino and DHS said the agent had been a firefighter for more than eight years. But when pressed on the videos contradicting the online position, he quickly backtracked,

The suspect had two magazines containing dozens of rounds of ammunition. He also had no identification. This appears to be a situation.

where an individual arrived at the scene with the intent to cause as much harm as possible to individuals and kill law enforcement officers.

Hundreds of protesters then demonstrated. At the scene. They began to obstruct law enforcement officers. And the assault began, and even an HSI officer had his finger cut off.

Protect the public and law enforcement at the scene. And once again, I want to remind everyone that this situation and this tragedy did not have to happen.

This individual obstructed law enforcement operations and attacked our officers. They responded as they were trained to do and took action to protect the officer’s life and the people around him.

And I don’t know any peaceful protesters who would stand with a gun and ammunition instead of a sign. It’s a violent act when you have someone show up with a weapon and use it to attack law enforcement officers.

Our message is really clear and direct. We need ICE out of Minnesota. They are not making us safer because people saw the tragic and tragic murder that happened this morning in this video.

I have formally requested the National Guard to assist with the limited number of officers we have in the Minneapolis Police Department.

We have about 600 officers in total. The day off has been canceled. Our incredible Minneapolis police officers are working tirelessly to do their jobs every day, and they are being thrown into the middle of this chaos.

We cannot do this on our own. And so we are getting help from both the Mutual Aid Framework and the request from the Governor for the National Guard.

We appreciate this assistance. Our officers are exhausted, our businesses are exhausted, and this additional assistance is necessary. And again, the chaos that we are seeing is directly caused by ICE, Border Patrol, and this federal administration.
