A Bellicose Trump Points Fingers in Defending His Record on the Economy. Good evening, America. 11 months ago, I inherited a mess, and I’m fixing it. When I took office, inflation was at its worst in 48 years.

And some would say that in the history of our country, which caused prices to be higher than ever before, making life unbearable for millions of Americans.

This was during a Democratic administration, and it was when we first started hearing the word 'austerity.' Our borders were open, and our country was invaded by an army of 25 million people,

many of whom came from mental institutions and asylums. They were drug dealers, gang members, and even 11,888 murderers. More than 50 percent of them killed more than one person.

This is what the Biden administration has allowed to happen to our country, and it can never be allowed to happen again. We had men’s sports in women’s sports,

transgender for everyone, record levels of crime with law enforcement, and absolutely taboo words. We had the worst trade deals ever, and our country was mocked around the world.

But they’re not laughing anymore. Over the past 11 months, we’ve brought about more positive change than any administration in Washington in American history. Never before. And I think

most would agree. I was elected by a landslide, winning the popular vote and all seven swing states and everything else, with a mandate to take over a sick and corrupt system

that has, extraordinarily, only taken wealth from the people and crushed the dreams of the American people. For the past four years, the United States has been ruled by politicians

who have only fought for insiders, illegals, professional criminals, corporate lobbyists, prisoners, terrorists, and, above all, foreign nations, who have taken advantage of us on a level never seen before.

They filled your cities and towns with illegal aliens. They wiped out your hard-earned savings. They taught your children to hate America.

Really. I mean, they just unleashed a level of violence that we have never seen before, targeting innocent people. They caused war.

They could cause a terrible situation all over the world. But now you have a president who fights for the law-abiding, hard-working people of our country,

who is going to run this nation, who makes this nation work. And after just one year, we have achieved more than anyone could have imagined.

From day one, I took immediate action to stop the invasion of our southern border. For the past seven months, no illegal aliens have been allowed into our country,

a feat that everyone said was absolutely impossible. Remember when Joe Biden said he needed legislation from Congress to help close the border?

He was always blaming Congress and everyone else. Turns out, we didn't need legislation. We just needed a new president. We inherited the worst border anywhere in the world,

and we quickly turned it into the strongest border in our country's history. In other words, in a few short months, we went from the worst to the best. We're deporting criminals,

restoring safety to our most dangerous cities. Just look at Washington, D.C. It's at a level of safety we've never seen before.

And they've taken down the bloodthirsty foreign drug traffickers. We did it all with our own people. And we're very proud of that because they were poisoning

and destroying our population. The amount of drugs brought in by sea and ocean is now down 94 percent. We have broken the grip of the terrible radicals in our schools

And control of those schools is now in the hands of our great and loving states, where education is concerned. After rebuilding the United States military in my first term, and with the additions we are now making

We have the most powerful military anywhere in the world, and it is not even close. I restored American power, resolved eight wars in 10 months, destroyed the Iranian nuclear threat,

ended the war in Gaza, brought peace to the Middle East for the first time in 3,000 years, and secured the release of hostages, both living and dead. Here at home, we are bringing our economy back from the brink of collapse. 

The last administration and its allies in Congress robbed our treasury of trillions of dollars, raised prices, and did everything else never seen before. I am bringing those high prices down and bringing them down very fast. Let’s examine the facts.

Car prices have gone up 22 percent under the Biden administration, and 30 percent or more in many states. Gasoline has gone up 30 to 50 percent. Hotel rates have gone up 37 percent.

Now, under our leadership, airfares have gone up 31 percent. They’re all coming down, and coming down fast. Democratic politicians have also raised food prices.

But we’re fixing that too. Thanksgiving turkeys were 33 percent cheaper last year than they were under Biden. Eggs are down 82 percent since March.

And everything is falling faster. And it’s not over yet, but boy, is it making progress. No one can believe what’s happening. Here are just a few of the efforts we’re making.

You’ll see it in your wallets and bank accounts in the new year. After years of record-setting income declines, our policies are increasing take-home pay at a historic pace.

Under Biden, real wages fell by $3,000. Under Trump, the average factory worker saw wages rise by $1,300. For construction workers, it's $1,800.

For miners, we're bringing back clean, beautiful coal, it's $3,300. And inflation for workers who are working faster than they have in years. Remember

That wages are, just look at this. Wages are rising much faster than inflation. How big is that? The very important thing is that more people are working today than at any time in American history.

And since I took office, 100% of all jobs are in the private sector. Think about it. 100% of all jobs are in the private sector, not the government.

Which is the only way to make this country strong and great? This historic trend will continue. Already, I have achieved a record $18 trillion in investment in the United States,

which means jobs, higher wages, growth, factory openings, and a lot of national security. Much of that success has been achieved through tariffs.

My favorite word, tariffs, which other countries have used successfully against us for decades, but not anymore. Companies know that if they build in the United States, there are no tariffs.

And that’s why they’re coming to the United States in record numbers. They’re rebuilding factories and plants on a scale we haven’t seen. AI, automobiles. We’re doing things.

That no one thought was possible. Not even remotely possible. A year ago, our country was dead. We were absolutely dead. Our country was set to fail.

Completely fail. Now, we’re the hottest country anywhere in the world. And that’s what every leader I’ve spoken to in the last five months said. Next year, you will also see the results of the biggest tax cuts in American history.

Which were really accomplished through our great big beautiful bill, perhaps the most clear-cut piece of legislation ever passed in Congress. We rolled 12 separate bills into one beautiful bill.

That includes no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and no tax on Social Security for our great seniors. Under these cuts, many families will be able to save between $11,000 and $20,000 a year.

And next spring is likely to be the biggest tax refund season ever. Because of the tariffs alone, along with a big, beautiful bill. Tonight, I am also proud to announce

That more than 1,450,000 members of the military service will be thinking about this 1,450,000 before Christmas, what we call the Warrior Dividend. A Warrior Dividend in honor of the founding of our nation in 1776.

We're sending $1,776 to every soldier. Think about it. And the checks are already on the way. Nobody understood it until about 30 minutes ago.

We made more money than anyone thought because of the tariffs. And the bill helped us. No one deserves it more than our military. And I congratulate everyone.

And by the way, we now have record recruitment in the military. And last year was the worst recruitment in the history of our military. What a difference a year makes. Also, I'm doing what

that no politician of any party has ever done, standing with a special interest in dramatically lowering the price of prescription drugs.

Negotiated directly with drug companies and foreign countries that have been taking advantage of our country for decades to lower the price of drugs and medicines by 400, 500, and even 600 percent.

In other words, the price of your drugs will go down. And I use the threat of tariffs to get foreign countries that would never have done it to pay for this massive drop in the dollar. They stopped ripping us off, and it started four days ago.

 It's never happened in the history of our country. Drugs have only gone up, but now they're going to go down to numbers that were never imagined possible.
