Trump unveils new class of warship named after himself

. The US Navy will name a new class of warships after President Donald Trump. The Trump-class ships will be the centerpiece of the president’s vision for a new Golden Fleet.

Many US ships are now named after presidents, but the honor is usually reserved for leaders who have left office. Now, Trump has claimed.

The new warships will be some of the most lethal surface combatants and the largest in the country’s history. US Navy Secretary John Fallon confirmed that the first ship in the class will be called the USS Defiant.

Two Trump-class ships will be built initially, but Trump said that number could increase significantly. We imagine that these two ships, we’re talking about 10,

But we’re going to start with two, and we’re going to quickly move to 10. And eventually, we think it’s going to start anywhere between those two, but 20 to the 20th.

And then we'll add to that very soon. I think we're going to do eight more. And then we're going to eventually go, and very soon we'll have a total of 20 to 25.

We'll make that commitment. Battleships are the biggest, strongest, and most heavily armed ships that are specifically designed for naval warfare.

While the United States has built many new warships over the years, they tend to be smaller and much smaller, and where we are and where we're going.

And they're not conducive to peace through force. Pentagon chief Pat Hacketh and Secretary of State Marco Rubio asked if the planned warships were against Washington's rival, Beijing.

Trump declined to say, instead saying that it was against everyone. It's not China. We're very good with China. Trump claimed that the ships would weigh between 30,000 and 40,000 tons.

And be armed with missiles and guns, as well as weapons that are still being developed, such as lasers and hypersonic missiles. The Trump-class ships would be significantly larger than current US destroyers and cruisers.

But the displacement proposed by the president is slightly smaller than that of the last US warships of the Ivy class, which were retired in the 1990s.

US: Trump Unveils New US Warship Class Named After Himself. Again, it's 100 times more powerful than the previous Iowa class. These are the big ones you'll see on the show. Victory at Sea. I don't know if anyone has seen Victory at Sea,

But it was a classic. They're going to help maintain American military supremacy, restore the American shipbuilding industry, and instill fear in America's enemies around the world.

We want respect. We're going to get it. We already have it. We're more respected now than ever. Trump said he would get involved with the Navy on design because, he says,

"I'm a very aesthetic person." The US president has complained in the past about the appearance of US ships. Trump said the US is building three new large aircraft carriers,

adding that 15 submarines are under construction or ready to be launched. Take a look. President Trump stands with Secretary of War Pat Hexedt and others to present plans for a new class of American warships,

arguing that the United States must restore naval dominance as great-power competition intensifies. Now, the timing is curious. China now operates a larger submarine fleet than the United States,

potentially extending Beijing’s reach across the Pacific. While the U.S. Navy ranks first in overall capability, China’s undersea construction has raised alarm bells inside the Pentagon.

The speech suggests that the Trump administration wants to send a clear deterrent message not only to Beijing but also to allies who are closely watching its naval power, shipbuilding, and industrial capacity.

What will happen next is whether Congress will fund it and whether American shipyards can actually deliver as quickly as the president wants. Susan Tani's reporting from New York for Vivian World is one.
