The Pixel 10a will finally end the Tensor debate

The Pixel 10a will finally put an end to the Tensor debate, so on paper, the all-new Pixel 10 looks like a pretty big upgrade over the Pixel 9a. And to be honest, that’s not too far from the truth.

What’s actually new about this device, though, and has Google really screwed it up? Well, let’s get to that in this video. Rest assured,

We’ll be going over all the details on the Pixel 10a and more in the coming weeks. So, hit that subscribe button to be the first to see when it drops.

Cheers So, it’s fair to say that many of you are wondering whether to buy a Pixel10A reviewer. Andy, that’s pretty fair on the surface. It’s more than that.

But is that strictly true? Well, yes and a little bit of a no at the same time. I think the fine-tuning is great, but is it enough? Okay, let’s get to the bottom of it. The good news here is that there are upgrades. Like the display

Display & Glass Upgrades

The size itself hasn’t changed, but the bezels, they look a little smaller. I don’t know if that’s really true. It’s brighter at 3,000 nits.

Oh, that’s up from the 2,700 nitspeak brightness on the Pixel 9a. And the contrast ratio is now up to 2 million tones, which means the improvements for the brightest and darkest parts of your screen should mean that if you end up in a situation where the phone is at its maximum brightness for a very short period of time

it’s going to be more visible. I think the small improvements help here. So yes, there’s a change to the display, albeit a big one. And Google has also ditched Gorilla Glass 3 in favor of Gorilla Glass 7i.

So, it’s not the most durable, but to put it into perspective, the Pixel 4a was the first to use Gorilla Glass 3. So, we've had,

Yeah, seven or so iterations of this before. It's a long overdue change, and it should be great for preventing scratches on the screen. That said,

You're probably going to put a screen protector on it anyway. So, yeah, I think it's good. There's no other change to the display, but there are changes nonetheless. That kind of thing.

Design Changes & Build

You’d expect from a phone this cheap. Visually, it looks the same as the 9a, but like jumping from the Pixel 9 to the Pixel 10,

there are really subtle differences. So, the dimensions are 153.9x73x9mm, which means the 10 is actually 0.1mm thinner, 0.8mm shorter.

and 0.3mm shorter than the Pixel 9a. It does this with a flush back plate for the camera, which I actually think looks pretty cool compared to your device.

Now Android phones. And I think it reminds me in a good way of the Pixel 4, sorry, Pixel, iPhone 4 series. I’m going to call it Pixel, iPhone series. Sad.

Missing Pixel Snap (Big Miss?)

Google probably made its biggest mistake here by not making room for the Pixel Snap. There are zero magnets in this model, so that means you'll need to get a case to attach your phone to other accessories you have, which is a shame.

It's disappointing, but I have to say it's not unexpected. Some other good news, though, is that the Pixel 10 Airis 3g is 183 grams lighter than last year's. I'd say I don't think the magnets will be any heavier, but yes, that means there's no support for the G2. Wireless charging has improved, though. So you get 10 watts for the Pixel 10a,

which is up from 7.5 watts. It won't be much faster, but it's at least a little faster. Again, extra benefits. Does that mean you're screwed? We all know that.

Performance & Tensor G4

The core internals are the same. Think this is the biggest disappointment for the Pixel 10a. The Tensor G4 chip is available here. No, it doesn’t have the latest Tensor G5 chip

Which has its own criticisms. You get 8GB of RAM which is exactly the same. There’s no bump there. Obviously, we have RAM prices that are ballooning right now.

So, that could be one reason why it’s stayed the same. It’s UFS 3.1 storage, not the faster UFS 4.0. So, that means we should get the exact same performance as last year,

Which is to say, it should be fine. You might not be doing a lot of crazy stuff on your phone, but I’m guessing you have a younger relative for your mom or dad,

Heck, I think most people are taking proper care of it. And if you have the Pixel 9 series, yeah, it’s the same.

This is a middle of the road non-flagship set of specs. This is not a gaming phone and it never will be. So, I don't think they messed up there, but it's a bit confusing

that we're using last year's chip. There's a new modem, though, or at least a revised modem. So, the Excynus 5300S, well, I think it's the S5300.

I'm not really sure. I'll put it on the screen if it's confirmed which one it is. It's basically the same as last year, but it does have the ability to use satellite SOS for the first time on an A series device.
