Microsoft’s first Windows 11 update of 2026 stopped some computers from shutting down

Microsoft's first Windows 11 update of 2026 stops some computers from shutting down. Hey guys, welcome to Clownfish TV. This is Neon, and I've got more bad news about Windows 11.

Good news, bad news. Microsoft has released an emergency patch for an update failure that was actually released to computer people on Tuesday.

I'll say at this point that installing Windows 11 if you haven't already is probably damaging your computer, but a lot of people went ahead and did it anyway because you know they're really worried about it, right? You have to upgrade. Upgrade. Do you have to upgrade?

Oh, your computer won't be safe until you upgrade. And yes, people who upgraded their systems to Windows 11 have had major problems.

And this latest update I talked about in a video yesterday, one of my laptops, which actually has Windows 11, and it's been debloated.

I took Copilot off it and everything, oh, it was behaving very, very badly. It was definitely not running normally, oh, the speed. And apparently this update,

Oh, kurfuggers, that's a word, I just made it up. Itkurfuggers your Nvidia GeForce drivers. And that's the thing.

that I was having trouble with. And it was also going to a black screen. That's another reported issue. But why is Microsoft releasing these updates and patches?

If they're going to break your computer? Why are they releasing them? Don't they have a billion-dollar company? Don't they have a couple of people to say,

"Hey, don't do that." Because I just don't understand how these updates are getting through the system, the pipeline, how they're slipping through the cracks.

But let's take a look at it. Before we get into it any further, please subscribe for more pop culture news, opinions, and rants. Guys, go to m.clownfishtv.com for more.

Microsoft forced to issue emergency updates. Uhemergency out-of-band updates for Windows11 after the latest security patches broke PC shutdowns and sign-ins.

Wow. So, the latest OS updates for Windows 11 introduce two major bugs that cause problems with shutting down your PC or signing in to your PC using Remote Desktop.

Yeah, it's great because some people just use their PCs like a remote desktop. I used to work at a company that was affiliated with the government.

And my actual desktop was in the building. When I worked remotely, I had to sign into that desktop because it was secure, and what we were working with

You know, we were dealing with something government. So yeah, I couldn't have liked taking files and putting them on my computer, my laptop, whatever.

I had to work on that computer. I had to log in to control it remotely, and it was in the building, and the IT guys had access to it.

And all that, but oh, you know, some people need it, you broke it, you know, like you broke my Nvidia driver.

Microsoft’s first update for Windows 11 in 2026 has already caused two major issues that left users unable to fully shut down their PCs while using Remote Desktop.

or unable to sign in to a device. Once again, a multi-billion dollar corporation, one of the largest companies on Earth. How did Co-Pilot Knot catch this?

Is this happening? Are you using AI to find this thing, and it didn’t catch it? Oh, they’re so strict that the company has now issued an emergency fix to fix the issues.

This isn’t the first time Microsoft’s lack of quality control has affected Windows 11 PCs in a big way. Do not shut down your PC due to a recent OS update.

is a huge oversight on Microsoft’s part. But this is the latest and longest list of such major issues from the past year.

Out-of-band updates are now available through Windows Update and are available to everyone. It's too late. Actually, that particular laptop is dual-boot.

And now I'm running it in Linux Mint. Oh, by the way, Linux Mint, if you want to get rid of Windows, you should go to linuxmint.com. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

I think it's a great operating system. There are a few applications that don't work as well as I would like them to, but for most people,

You'll be able to do pretty much anything you want to do, and it's a lot easier to use than Windows 11. Um, and oh, old computers will run like new, especially

because there's no bloat. There's no bloat. So, you can debloat it; it's already there. It's a very lightweight operating system. Oh, definitely recommend it.

Linux mint.com. But, um, yeah. Anyway, you can't even log into your PC. It's crazy. It's crazy. Oh, but yeah, so what I did is actually.

There are two hard drives on the laptop. I'm booting into Linux, and I think I'm going to completely wipe my Windows drive and just use it as storage.

I think I'm done with Windows on this machine. It's an old laptop. It's about five or six years old, and I think I'm done with it.

I'm done with it for good. Once installed, your PC should be able to turn on again and shut down successfully.

And signing in via Remote Desktop should work again. Um, he said that other issues that came with Windows 11 last year included a bug.

That caused Task Manager to fail to close when the user exited the application, which caused the user to hold onto system resources for an extended period of time after opening them.

The Task Manager closed multiple times in a single session. Another update saw File Explorer users flash a white screen when opening it in dark mode,

which appeared in the update that was supposed to improve dark mode on Windows 11. Now, there’s also an update that somehow broke the Windows recovery environment in a way that

made it impossible to take action on your PC through recovery options. These kinds of bugs seem to be making their way into the product all the time now via Windows Updates,

even though the company supposedly tests each update with Insiders first. For whatever reason, the Windows Insider program no longer seems to work

Because the severe bugs somehow made it into the shipping versions of theOS. Yes, because they probably all switched to Linux. Yes, if I remember correctly, they all switched to other operating systems.

This comes from Forbes. Microsoft confirms emergency updates to Windows PCuh PCs. Yes. So, as WindowsLatest reported, Microsoft has now released fixes for at least two bugs. Specifically, shutdown failures on older PCs running Windows 11  23H2 and, more broadly, desktop login failures. Again,

They're not fixing the problem I had, which I mentioned in yesterday's video, which is that my GPU is now useless. NVIDIA drivers, I don't know what they did to it.

I don't know what they did to it, but like any graphics-intensive task I wanted to do on this laptop that worked two days before the update, and now doesn't work.

And I get a black screen, and I'm like, "Yeah, screw this. It's unusable." And I thought it was my internet connection.

I'm checking my wifi. I'm like, "I don't understand what's going on." And here it was, a never-ending update. So, yeah.

So, Windows 10's latest update confirms a complicated situation for users this weekend. Microsoft has officially acknowledged at least three issues so far. A bug where remote desktop connections fail.

Another where Windows 11  23H2 won't shut down. A bug that crashes Outlook Classic. The most significant issue has been remote login failures.

Some users have experienced sign-in failures during remote desktop connections. This issue affected authentication steps for various remote desktop applications.

That's kind of a big one. The bad news is that three issues are still not fixed. Okay. A black screen appears for a few seconds or minutes before the cursor appears. Yes.

An issue where the desktop background is set to black. Yes, and the file on the desktop of the PC's File Explorer also fails to work.

That's a big one. And then there's the Nvidia issue. There's also an issue that's been acknowledged with Outlook. It affects Outlook Classic setups where users do runold style pop accounts.

That would be where the email would download to your desktop on your computer. Oh, that's old school. It used to be like that for everyone.

In fact, I remember server-side email being exactly the same, as you could just read your email on the server. You didn't have to download it first.

That was novel. I don't think anyone uses it anymore. That's because Outlook basically runs in the background and prevents normal restarts.

Yeah, that's a lot of problems. That's a lot of problems, right? I know, I said before that Windows11 is good if you debloat it,

But I don't know if I can really say that because now I think it has a lot of problems with it with every update. Let's say

The version before the latest update worked fine if you debloat it properly, and I thought the ones that worked on my couple were fine.

I think I'll just run Windows 11. I'll take it off. That's fine. It'll be fine. That's fine. Whatever. That's fine. I'm just not going to use Copilot.

I'm not going to use all the AI , whatever. I'm not going to use all the Microslope. It doesn't matter. Apparently, they're just going to update it.

and update it anyway. So, you know, I can't recommend Windows 11 anymore. I just can't recommend it. Oh, I really think.

that we all need to go. We all need to migrate. Because it's not going to get any better. They're going to, and we talked about uhJeff Bezos in the video earlier today.

That he basically wants everyone to probably lease their computing power from him, right? That you're not going to own your computer anymore. You're just going to lease your computing power.

And I think that's where Microsoft is going. I think they're going through their operating system, and I think eventually you're going to buy a dodgy one.

That's going to give you an interface to Microsoft's C-Pilot environment or whatever, and you're going to be a subscriber. You're going to be amark, right?

That's what they want. They don't want you to own your computer. Um, I think you should own your computer. You should own your identity.

Oh, you should own your hardware. And if you own your hardware, it should be usable. For God's sake, you spent thousands of dollars on a computer.

. You should be able to use your damn computer. And Windows makes it very difficult for you to use your computer, but it's not the only game in town.

I'm just saying there are other options out there. Buy a Mac, use Linux. It's not Mint. Other distributions are fine.

Um, but it's a much more solid experience, and people are actually testing it and tweaking it all the time. Unlike Windows 11, I think.

that everyone is giving up on it. So, I don't know, maybe 12 will be better. Who knows? Going to wrap it up. Please subscribe. We'll talk later.
